Kandinsky spends the year with Gabriele Münter in Paris, living in Sèvres, near the Parc de Saint-Cloud. In Paris, he encounters the work of Henri Matisse, which makes a powerful impression on him. He produces a series of small landscapes of the Parc de Saint-Cloud. He participates in exhibitions of the group Die Brücke in Dresden. At the Salon d'Automne, he visits the Gauguin retrospective.
His style becomes less naturalistic, and his palette brighter and more dramatic.
