  • At the age of 67, Kandinsky enters a new creative phase. Inspired by illustrations from atlases and reference books on embryology, zoology, and botany, he experiments with form—biomorphic elements begin to appear on his canvases. His palette becomes lighter and more cheerful. His technique also changes: the artist simultaneously uses oil, tempera, gouache, watercolor, and ink, and adds sand to his paint to create texture. Constrained by limited means, he more often paints on cheaper cardboard and favors small-format works. All of his paintings now receive French titles.
  • Key works: Entre Deux, Graceful Ascent (Montée tendre), Isolated Objects (Objets isolés), Black Forms on White (Formes noires sur blanc), Striped (Rayé), and Distribution (Distribution).
  • April–May — solo exhibition at the Galleria del Milione in Milan.
  • May — solo exhibition at the Galerie Galerie Cahiers d'Art in Paris.
  • Exhibition of works through private viewings of "The Blue Four" collection at Galka Scheyer's house-gallery in Hollywood.
  • July–September — summer holiday in Le Pradet, near Toulon.
