As chairman of the State Purchasing Commission at the Museum Bureau of the IZO department of Narkompros, helps organize twenty-two provincial museums throughout Soviet Russia.
The enormous administrative workload continues to prevent regular artistic work; nevertheless, alongside watercolors and graphic works, an important painting emerges this year: In the Gray, which the artist himself later described as "the culmination of my 'dramatic' period."
