Kandinsky enrolls in the private school-studio of the Slovenian artist Anton Ažbe in Munich. There he meets Alexej von Jawlensky, Marianne von Werefkin, and other artists.

Focusing exclusively on studio drawing and outdoor oil sketches, this transitional phase features no finalized major canvases.
