- Work at the Bauhaus continues: teaching, organizational duties, and constant interaction with students and colleagues within the school's unique creative environment.
- In his own practice — according to the Norton Simon Museum — produces 25 oil paintings and more than 100 watercolors this year. Among them: Divided (Geteilt), On the Points (Auf Spitzen), Deepened Impulse, Vibrating (Vibrierend).
- Exhibitions in Berlin, Paris, The Hague, and Brussels.
- Stage production of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Kandinsky was not only the set and costume designer, but also the stage director. Unsurprisingly, he did not adhere to the narrative, instead creating an "abstract action." The premiere took place on 4 April at the Friedrich Theatre in Dessau.
- Receives German citizenship.
