  • Creation of the First Abstract Watercolor.
  • Intensive work on Composition VII: over thirty preparatory drawings, watercolors, analytical sketches, and studies. According to art historians, the canvas brings together themes of the Resurrection, the Last Judgment, the Flood, and Paradise. The painting is completed in November 1913 on a canvas measuring 200 × 300 cm.
  • A series of six abstract etchings in drypoint technique (1913–1914).
  • Publication of the album Kandinsky 1901–1913, issued by the Der Sturm gallery in Berlin, which includes his autobiographical text Rückblicke (Retrospective / Steps).
  • Participation in the Armory Show in New York (February 17 – March 15). Participation in the First German Autumn Salon at the Der Sturm gallery in Berlin (September 20 – December 1).
  • In late summer, the Chicago lawyer and collector Arthur Jerome Eddy visits Munich; he becomes one of the first and most important American collectors of Kandinsky's work.
  • Kandinsky lives and works in Munich at Ainmillerstrasse 36. His mother moves in with him during this period. In July and September, he travels to Berlin and Moscow, maintaining connections with the Russian and German art worlds.
