1901

In May, Kandinsky founds the artists' association "Phalanx" in Munich. The aim of the association is to organize exhibitions for young, unknown artists. "Phalanx" arranges twelve exhibitions up to 1904. Between 1901 and 1903, he teaches at the Phalanx school. Among his students is Gabriele Münter, who would become his companion and muse for many years. The first Phalanx exhibition opens in August 1901.
