1922

  • In June, at the invitation of Walter Gropius, Kandinsky moves to Weimar and begins teaching at the Bauhaus. Upon arrival, he takes over the mural painting workshop and actively participates in the development of the curriculum, devoting considerable time to preparing his classes.
  • In addition to directing the workshop, he teaches several courses: "Analytical Drawing" (Analytisches Zeichnen), "Fundamentals of Artistic Design" (design theory), and his most famous course, the "Color Seminar" (Farbenseminar).
  • A new highly productive period begins: oil paintings such as White Zig Zag, Black Grid, White Cross, and many others (during this period, he produced thirty to forty paintings a year). Continuation of the Small Worlds (Kleine Welten) series — twelve lithographs — as well as monumental panels (murals), the Jury-Free Wall Paintings, created for the Berlin exhibition "Juryfreie Kunstschau".
