  • Publication of the Der Blaue Reiter almanac by R. Piper & Co. in Munich. The first edition consisted of 1,200 copies of the regular edition and 50 deluxe copies, which included two original woodcuts: Kandinsky's The Archer and Franz Marc's Fantastic Animal.
  • Publication of The Yellow Sound (Der Gelbe Klang). The almanac includes the text of the stage composition The Yellow Sound, complete with detailed stage directions and libretto. The music was composed by his friend, the composer Thomas de Hartmann.
  • Second Der Blaue Reiter exhibition. It takes place at the Hans Goltz Gallery in Munich, then travels to other German cities, including Berlin.
  • Solo exhibition at Der Sturm. From 2 to 28 October 1912, the Berlin gallery Der Sturm holds the "Kandinsky: Collective Exhibition, 1902–1912." Among the works on display is the painting Black Spot I (Schwarzer Fleck I, 1912).
  • Creation of the monumental canvas Composition VI (1913), considered the culmination of his Munich period. The starting point for this work was the glass painting The Flood (1911), and Kandinsky documented the painting process in detail.
  • Publication of the collection of poems and woodcuts Klänge (Sounds), in which Kandinsky combines poetry and visual art into a single synthetic work. The artist himself described it as a "musical album."
