This work was originally owned by Johanna Margarete Stern, who purchased it directly from Kandinsky. After being looted by the Nazis during World War II, the painting spent decades in the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven. In 2022, it was restituted to the Stern family heirs and subsequently sold at auction.
